The Story

Built in 1864 as part of a treaty with the Indigenous nations of the area, the Aztec Mill endures as both the tallest and oldest structure in Cimarron. Having served in the past variously as a grist mill, clandestine wedding chapel, and polo barn, the mill now houses and treasures the artifacts and stories of the lives of northeastern New Mexico's inhabitants. Everything from millstones to fine china, arrowheads to ranch wagons complete each other in telling the narrative of Cimarron.
